Russian President Vladimir Putin said he personally made the decision to open direct flights to Georgia. He announced this on Friday during a meeting with members of “Business Russia”.
“I always try to distribute everything positive that happens with us among my colleagues, but in this case it was really my decision and my proposal,” Putin said.
According to him, Russia will continue to take steps towards Georgia.
Recall that on May 10, by decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, the ban on flights of Russian airlines and the sale of tours in Georgia was lifted. In addition, since May 15, the visa regime for citizens of the republic has been canceled.
After the resumption of direct flights between Georgia and Russia, representatives of Georgian opposition parties and their supporters began to demand from the authorities the introduction of a visa regime for citizens of the Russian Federation.
