Readers of the German newspaper Die Welt commented on the statement by Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev, which listed the options for the disappearance of Ukraine.
Many commentators did not like the prospect of transfers of Ukrainian territories to European countries, as this could embroil Poland with Germany.
“The fact that Poland wants the western part around Lemberg-Lwow is an open policy in Poland and is very popular with the people”, “If Poland took most of western Ukraine, they would have to return these territories to Germany. Lemberg-Lvov, for example, is such a case,” readers wrote.
Commentators pointed out that the only option left was the division of Ukraine and the creation of a NATO buffer zone, and also called on Russia to take over Ukraine entirely.
“Now all that remains is to divide Ukraine and create a buffer zone for NATO”, “Oh no, please, we don’t need it. Take it entirely!”, users said.
Dmitry Medvedev said on the eve that the conflict in Ukraine will end with long-term guarantees of non-recovery in the event that the western regions of the country join the EU states, and the rest – to Russia.
