According to the records of the Alexandria Security Directorate, the police received a notification of a children’s toy falling in the Smouha area and the presence of injuries on Thursday evening, so the security men and civil protection moved to deal with the accident. .
The prosecution asked governorate officials for documents indicating the existence of a license for the nightclub, as well as the formation of a specialized committee to detect the availability of security and safety requirements.
Social media platforms circulated videos of the accident, showing the fallen game and attempts to rescue the injured.
And the undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Alexandria, Amira Tahyu, revealed to “Sky News Arabia” that the accident happened in the amusement park area of ​​​​the famous shopping center “Green Plaza” in the Smouha region.
She explained that the accident resulted in the injury of 6 people, a boy (15 years old), a girl (17 years old), a young man (22 years old), another (19 years old), a woman (26 years old ) and a man (27), noting that all the injured have been transferred to hospitals.
The official said the injuries ranged from fractures to the spine, foot and arm, in addition to cuts and nosebleeds.
In the same context, East Alexandria district chief Ahmed Habib confirmed to “Sky News Arabia” that the amusement park has a license registered in the name of Smouha tourist center, “Green Plaza”.
However, he added, “the game that fell is not affiliated with the licensed amusement park area, and it has another owner who placed it in one of the collusion hallways. with the responsible manager, so they must be held responsible together.”
Habib pointed out that “industrial safety bears some responsibility, as they did not rush to correct this wrong situation until the accident happened”.
An eyewitness who owns a store in the aforementioned mall, Amr Abdel Fattah, told Sky News Arabia that:
• Store owners and visitors to the mall were surprised by screams and a state of panic between children and their families in the area of ​​the amusement park.
• While investigating the case, it was found that a toy called ‘the carousel’ had fallen, after it had separated from the pole to which it was attached.
• The accident caused the fall of 3 people riding a game intended for over 10 years, because they fell with the game on 3 other people present in the premises.
• The ambulance arrived and took the injured to the hospital.
• The police also came and cordoned off the scene of the accident, and club visitors were evacuated.
• Similar incidents have already occurred in the same cabarets, and in other cabarets in Alexandria, at different intervals.
