This year, around 1,000 people took part in the already traditional sporting event, including Russian compatriots, students, employees of Russian missions with their families, as well as ordinary Cubans.
The competition began in front of the Russian Embassy building in the Miramar district, on one of the most famous streets in the Cuban capital – 5th Avenue. The start of the 3.7 km race was given by the Russian Ambassador to Cuba Viktor Coronelli and the director of the Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation Osvaldo Vento, who then also rewarded the winners.
Children also took part in sports competitions, a special distance of 1000 meters was prepared for them. At the head of the peloton began the skaters, who, in the conditions of the eternal Cuban summer, of course, performed on roller skates.
The absolute winner of the race was a member of the Cuban triathlon team Marcos Fernandez, for whom these competitions were part of the preparation for the upcoming departures.
