Speaker of the House of Representatives Kevin McCarthy has confirmed the success of negotiations with US President Joe Biden to prevent a catastrophic default that threatened the US economy. McCarthy wrote about it on Twitter, reports 360.
“We’ve come to an agreement in principle,” McCarthy said.
He called the deal reached “worthy of the American people.” It is assumed that the approval of the amendments to the budget will take place in Congress on May 31. McCarthy pointed out that the increase in the size of the national debt does not provide for the imposition of additional taxes and will lead to a historic reduction in the US budget.
Earlier, it was reported that Biden confirmed he had reached an agreement with Congress to avoid defaults and called the budget deal “good news for the American people.”
