Bhopal. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that our country became independent on August 15, 1947 and Bhopal became independent on June 1, 1949. Today we are celebrating Bhopal’s Independence Day as Pride Day. Many people had participated in the merger for the independence of Bhopal. This is the day to remember them. Bhopal is not just a city of Nawabs but a city built by Raja Bhoj. A statue of Raja Bhoj has been installed in the pond of Bhopal, which is the identity of Bhopal. He announced that an international cricket stadium would be built in Bhopal. A convention center will also be constructed here. Wetland corridor and museum will be built here.
Chief Minister Chouhan was addressing the Bhopal Gaurav Diwas function at Motilal Nehru Stadium here late Thursday evening. Medical Education Minister Vishwas Sarang, MPs VD Sharma and Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, MLAs Rameshwar Sharma and Krishna Gaur, Mayor Malti Rai, former Mayor Alok Sharma and a large number of common people were present on the occasion. Families of freedom fighters who participated in the Bhopal merger movement were felicitated in the programme.
Chief Minister Chouhan said that Rani Kamlapati had taken samadhi in the small pond for her self-respect and women’s respect. Habibganj railway station has been renamed as Rani Kamalapati to make children aware of history. Similarly, the name of Islamnagar has been changed to Jagdishpur. Our Bhopal is the cleanest capital in India. Bhopal has to be made number one in cleanliness. Your cooperation is necessary in this.
He said that the criminal act of intoxication will not be allowed to continue in Bhopal. The history of Bhopal is very glorious. Rajabhoj was the source of good governance. An attempt has been made to crush our ancient history, tradition and life values. The development of Bhopal has progressed. It has to be taken further. Bhopal has to be brought number one in cleanliness as well.

Chief Minister Chouhan made several announcements on this occasion. He said that from the coming year, June 1 will be a public holiday on Bhopal Gaurav Divas. Convention center will be built in Bhopal. Arrangements will be made to run a ropeway over the pond. International level cricket stadium will be built in Bhopal. He said that everyone should take a resolution to make Bhopal number one among the cities of the world.
Earlier, Chief Minister Chouhan inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp. Laser-show based on the historical and archaeological heritage and development of Bhopal city was displayed in the programme. Comedians Krishna Abhishek, Suresh, lyricist Manoj Muntashir Shukla and singer Shreya Ghoshal enthralled the audience with their enthralling performances in the late night event.

Manoj Muntashir, the lyricist of the Chief Minister’s address in the program, started the address with the slogan Jai Bhopal, Jai-Jai Shri Ram. He said that the new Parliament House has been constructed according to Vastu Shastra, that is why the demonic powers stayed away from the Parliament House. Referring to the history of Bhopal, he said that Pakistan, which once used to ask for Kashmir, is now forced to ask for flour. It is the only army, which has not won a single war yet, but has not lost a single election. It is the only army in the world which contests elections.
