In the world of Metaverse.. Apple will ignite its competition with Meta with this product

Observers unanimously agreed that Apple announced, after a long wait, its first augmented reality device, which is a pair of glasses that will mix virtual and augmented reality, at its annual developer conference.

The device, which could be named from the leaks as “Reality Pro”, has “stunning” technical specifications, but it will be available for sale at a price of “around three thousand dollars”, according to Dan Ives of the ” WebBosch”.

The analyst explained that the glasses are designed for playing video games, watching movies, participating in video calls and exercising.

“Apple was hoping to launch a product that was closer to a pair of glasses than a full-fledged video game device,” said Insider Intelligence analyst Uri Wurmser.

But he added, “It looks like they’re going to come up with something bigger (and definitely more expensive) because they want fanatics and engineers to use it and start building a whole ecosystem of custom apps.” , before designing lighter and cheaper equipment. for the general public.

“meta” control

Mita is currently dominating the virtual reality industry, as “Quest” brand augmented reality glasses captured more than 80% of the market by the end of 2022, according to the “Counterpoint” company.

On Thursday, the group’s boss, Mark Zuckerberg, launched a new device, the “Quest 3”, explaining that it is “the first high-resolution color mixed reality consumer glasses”.

Mixed reality makes it possible to move from virtual reality, which immerses the user in a virtual world, to augmented reality, where virtual objects appear superimposed on their real environment.

Zuckerberg pointed out that the Quest 3 device, which will go on sale in the United States this fall, at a price starting at $500, is “40% smaller” than the previous model and “more comfortable” to use, the describing it as the brand’s “most powerful device” since its launch.

At the end of 2021, Facebook adopted the name “Meta” for its parent company, based on a vision based in particular on considering Metaverse as the future of the Internet, after the Web and mobile devices.

But the social media giant’s efforts have yet to result in widespread adoption of its products.

The number of users of these devices increased in 2021, during shutdowns during the pandemic, but growth has slowed since then, to between 5 and 6% per year, according to research firm Insider Intelligence.

According to the company, around 35 million people currently use virtual reality devices at least once a month in the United States, or around 10% of the population.

“Meta” “wants to establish operating system standards for this new technology, like Google and Apple have done with smartphones,” said Yuri Wurmser, analyst at Insider Intelligence. “As a result, the network does not hesitate to sell these devices at a loss to build a consumer base,” he added.

As for “Apple”, on the other hand, it wants to “earn money by selling its devices, even if its service activity is growing”.

Apple is notorious for only releasing new products when they are sure to cause a stir, even if the price is initially too high for the general public.

In any case, the founder of the consulting company “VR Direct” in the field of virtual reality, Rolf Ellenberger, said that virtual reality will first take shape “at the level of work and at the level of universities and the training”.

He added that the new glasses, even if the price is three thousand dollars, “will revolutionize virtual reality, augmented reality and the vision of people on Metaverse, in case everything that is promoted about it is correct” , like “fans of Apple devices are afraid of missing something.”
