Journal: Evidence indicates Nord Stream blasts were led by Poland

The US Wall Street Journal said on Saturday that German investigators were examining evidence indicating that a team of “saboteurs” had used Poland as a base of operations to damage Nord Stream pipelines, adding that German investigators had imagined the trip perfectly. of two weeks from the yacht Andromeda, which is suspected of being involved in damaged pipelines transporting Russian gas to Europe.

According to the newspaper, investigators said the yacht had strayed from its destination in Polish waters, based on data from transmitters and navigation devices in Andromeda, as well as data from cellphones and satellites, and accounts. Neither Germany’s Federal Criminal Police Office nor the Polish prime minister’s executive office responded to Reuters requests for comment.

The Washington Post also reported last week that the United States learned of a Ukrainian plan to attack the pipelines 3 months before underwater explosions damaged them.

On Wednesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told German media that Ukraine had not attacked Nord Stream pipelines.

The explosions occurred in the economic regions of Sweden and Denmark.

Both countries say the bombings were deliberate, but have not yet identified those responsible.

German media reported in March that a yacht belonging to a Ukrainian company based in Poland may have been involved in the attack.

Earlier, German newspaper “Der Spiegel” confirmed that new evidence in the investigation into sabotage operations targeting “Nord Stream” gas pipelines pointed to Ukrainian involvement.

The police investigation focuses in particular on the yacht “Andromeda”, which was probably used to transport the explosives used during the September 2022 sabotage in the Baltic Sea.

Der Spiegel reported that the metadata of the emails sent during the boat rental refer to Ukraine.

The newspaper said that traces of the explosive substance “HMX” were found on the yacht, “and it is widespread in the west, as in the previous block in the east”.
