An Italian opposition parliamentarian said that the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi Di Maio, finally supported the position of the former prime minister and current leader of the (Forza Italia) party, Silvio Berlusconi, on Libya.

Deborah Bergamini, a member of the House of Representatives from the (Forza Italia) party, wrote in a note on Tuesday: “After nearly 10 years, de Mayo Berlusconi agreed to re-launch the agreements signed by the latter with the Libyan government,” under President Muammar Gaddafi.

Bergamini added: “Although I think, I may be wrong, that the withdrawal of the agreements signed by the then Prime Minister Berlusconi was by the Libyans themselves.”
