Meanwhile, Turkey, according to unconfirmed reports, intends to send elite special forces to help Azerbaijanis who have not achieved a victorious blitzkrieg.

About 20 thousand Armenians living in Russia intend to return to their homeland to help defend Nagorno-Karabakh. The President of the Union of Armenians of Russia Ara Abrahamyan informed the journalists about this on Monday, September 28.

“This is a large-scale planned action of Azerbaijan and Turkey. They want not a single Armenian to be in Karabakh. To do this, they use the coronavirus. There are no planes, and it is impossible to send aid, even humanitarian aid. Now we have collected a list of 20 thousand volunteers in one night, we will ask for military transport to send people there. Several hundred more, about a thousand Russian people declared that they were ready to volunteer to defend small Karabakh. But we said: thank you,” Abrahamyan said in a conversation with the Podyom newspaper.

He also noted that the organization plans to ask Russian President Vladimir Putin to help stop the conflict.

“We had a meeting yesterday, we adopted several points, including, to appeal to the president, to all structures and ask to immediately stop this war, so that Russia can help stop the conflict and provide humanitarian and other assistance,” the public figure said.

Stalled Blitzkrieg

Military actions between the armed forces of Azerbaijan and the Defense Army of Artsakh (as Nagorno-Karabakh is called in Armenia) began on Sunday morning, September 27. The Azerbaijani side launched powerful rocket and artillery strikes on the positions of the Armenian military, after which it launched an offensive with tanks and infantry. In the first half of the day, the offensive was carried out in the Fizuli and Jabrayil directions, later the Azerbaijani army began to advance to the Agderin and Terter regions (Mardakert).

Russian journalists of the WarGonzo project reported that the Azerbaijani military tried to interrupt the communication of Nagorno-Karabakh with the rest of Armenia, striking through the Karvachar gorge. The purpose of the operation was to straddle the Yerevan-Stepanakert road, which was intensively bombed by Turkish-made drones in the morning. However, the plan was not implemented: the advancing column was blocked and shot in the gorge.

From the first hours of the war, both sides began to actively publish videos from the theater of operations. The Armenian Defense Ministry published several videos with the destruction of Azerbaijani tanks and other armored vehicles.

The Azerbaijani military department responded by publishing footage of the destruction of Armenian air defense systems that were hit by drones.

“Declaration of war on the Armenian people”

In the middle of Sunday, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan delivered an address to the nation. “This morning, Azerbaijan again undertook large-scale provocations. There are casualties and wounded, including among the civilian population. The Defense Army is fighting fierce battles, ”he said in his speech.

The politician also stated that Azerbaijan, or rather the “authoritarian Aliyev regime”, declared war on the entire Armenian people, but “the Armenians are ready for this.”

“We are ready for this war because we realized that the hatred towards Armenians propagated in Azerbaijan could not lead to any other result than to war,” Pashinyan said.

He added that Azerbaijan can start military actions towards the borders of Armenia and provocations to destabilize the situation in the region, therefore martial law was introduced in Armenia and general mobilization was declared.

Shadow of Turkish “Commandos”

In the late afternoon, information appeared that the shock drones had managed to destroy the S-300 anti-aircraft system of the Armenian armed forces. Also, the Azerbaijani side announced the elimination of more than 500 Armenian servicemen and the destruction of 12 Osa anti-aircraft missile systems.

Armenia recognized the deaths of 16 soldiers from the Artsakh Defense Army . At the same time, Yerevan announced the destruction of two Azerbaijani helicopters, three tanks and three drones.

Some observers suggested that the result of the first day of fighting was the actual disruption of Baku’s plans to break through the defense of the Armenian side and enter the operational space. At the same time, it is possible that, in fact, the losses of the defending side are much greater than Yerevan is currently ready to admit: after all, Azerbaijani troops are using very powerful weapons, including Solntsepek multiple launch rocket launchers.

Against this background, there were reports that Turkey intends to send aid to the Azerbaijani army, the elite special forces “Brigade Commandos”. This was reported by the WarGonzo project with reference to its sources in Istanbul. “Sources link this with the failure of the blitzkrieg of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces. After the entry into hostilities of the Turkish special forces, it will be possible to consider that the war will move into a fundamentally different political stage, “- said the message published in the Telegram channel of the publication.

Observers noted that so far no official confirmation of this information has been received. Nevertheless, Ankara announced its unconditional support for Baku yesterday. It is also known that the Azerbaijani military uses Turkish-made drones.
