Bremerhaven (TEH) – The polar bear twins born in December in the Bremerhaven zoo by the sea have now been given names: their names are Elsa and Anna.
A jury chose the 3500 submitted suggestions for the two names from the animated film “Frozen”, as zoo veterinarian Bastian Lange announced. The jury also included two zoo polar bear keepers.
Mother Valeska and her offspring were allowed on the outside surface of the polar bear enclosure for the first time on Tuesday. While Valeska splashed in the water, the two polar bear girls watched her, as Lange reported. Due to the Corona crisis, the zoo is closed at least until April 19.
