Article Submission Principle #1: Useful & newsworthy articles
Our focus is on providing readers with newsworthy, opinionated, useful, practical, helpful, actionable information that brings readers significant benefits. Be an expert – it helps if you know what you’re talking about. Educate, teach and solve problems. Being an opinion article writer if you notice that readers in some specific field have problems with this topic? Write a solution. Articles which solve readers’ problems tend to do well here. The sense of news article should remain the same but in the opinion editorials or Op-Ed articles, you have open wings to share your thoughtful opinion with the readers.
Article Submission Principle #2: Unique articles
We think I’ve got it covered (and people agree) when it comes to offering content that has a different style and way of teaching, content that is fresh, or content that presents a new angle on something. It is advisable to address an existing article and share your opinion in a good manner.
An innovative piece of Opinion:
Think of opinions or ideas that haven’t been covered yet (or haven’t been covered extensively) anywhere else online too. Say something new and say it with a fresh voice that hasn’t been presented before. Notice what everyone’s already doing – and figure out what they’re not doing. But, keep in mind the real essence of the article; newsworthiness. It’s not to say that you can’t write an opinion article or Op-Ed on common topics, it’s just that you shouldn’t cover it with the exact sauce opinion as others have already done.
Be original and unique while writing an Opinion Editorial
Figure out what we haven’t written about yet. If you want, and if you’ve got the reasons, you can take an opposing stance to one of our existing opinions published on The Eastern Herald. Got a fresh idea? You increased your chances of us getting interested in your piece of article writing.
We like interesting and newsworthy articles. Give your writing sous swing. Tell a story, use a great metaphor, or write sous thought-provoking material. Keep in mind the real essence of news.
Backlinks within the news articles or op-ed submissions
Please don’t fill articles with links to your site in every paragraph. You have the byline for that. If one of your articles is extremely relevant, then a link is encouraged. Otherwise, a post with unnecessary links to your site is not allowed. In our article submission form, there is a provision of 3 links along with the anchor text option. We regularly check the links in your news or opinion articles for any changes.
Article Submission Principle #3: Relevant articles
Our focus is on writing newsworthy articles, with broad subcategories of culture, current events, education, governments, politics, religion, society, technology, etc. Make sure to write on one tight and hot newsworthy topic, not many small ones.
Article Submission Principle #4: Well-written articles
At The Eastern Herald, We focus on high-quality articles that offer strong value for our readers. Our readers rely on us to accept only the best of the best.
The Eastern Herald imparts knowledge on many writing disciplines to readers. As such, your news articles or opinion editorial posts need to be well-written and demonstrate a good command of the English language, grammar, punctuation, clarity, style, and tone. Run your content through a spell check, and try to catch all the typos. Even after that, it’s best to manually proofread for those contextual spelling errors.
Edit your opinion post well, and rewrite it a few times. It’s a good idea to set your opinion article aside for a day or two and come back to it to edit, change the sentences for better flow, and in general make it better.
Your article may also be edited before publication for quality or clarity. Please don’t be offended if we make changes that improve your submission even more.
Make sure you have a strong introduction that hooks readers and draws them in. Use good structure and formatting. Sub-headers and bullet points or strong impact statements help the audience read your awesome opinion post.
Keep your news articles or news posts between the word count of 350 and 900. Articles around here tend to be on the longer side. Word count matters, but the main tip is this: write as much as you need to, no more.
Opinion Editorial or Op-Ed Articles
Opinion articles are very strong in their sense. Keep your articles interesting and worthy of reading. The Op-Ed articles must have the essence of what you intend to portray. The post must have relevance to the current times.
Have a well-rounded wrap-up. We’ve noticed that the conclusion is one of the most neglected areas of guest posts. Please finish your post well and summarize with a good bang that encourages conversation and commentary.
We like internal linking, so include a link or two to a relevant post on our news website. You may also link out to other relevant posts on the web if you like – but no more than three links, please.
Credit all sources if your article demands any.
- All news or opinion articles must be in the English language and have a basic structure of paragraphs. Long ones are harder to read. Of course, if you use sub-headlines, lists, bold and italic text in the right context and right amount then it’s always a bonus. But about news articles, too much of a good thing is a bad thing, and therefore, make sure you don’t go overboard.
- Your opinion editorial, the op-ed or editorial article must be original work that hasn’t been published elsewhere. No copy-pasted news articles or opinion editorials from anywhere else, even your site.
- If your news article or opinion editorial article is accepted, in its entirety it should not appear elsewhere (such as on your blog).
