Azerbaijan stated that an anti-terrorist operation was carried out in the vicinity of Gadrut in Karabakh. This statement was made by the defense department and the country’s security service.

Despite the ceasefire, Armenian troops remained in the forests northwest of the village of Hadrut, the State Security Service and Azerbaijan said in a statement. It should be noted that the ceasefire regime in Karabakh was violated for the first time since the start of the peacekeeping operation in the region on December 11 in the Hadrut region.

“After the signing of a joint statement on a ceasefire on November 10, Armenian armed groups remained in the forests northwest of the Hadrut settlement. The Armenian side appealed to the command of the peacekeeping contingent of the Russian Federation for assistance in the withdrawal of these detachments, ”the ministry said in a statement. Baku called on Yerevan to ensure the implementation of the points of the joint ceasefire statement in Karabakh.

Recall, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Azerbaijani leader Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on November 9 signed a joint statement on the complete cessation of hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh .

According to the agreements, the Azerbaijani and Armenian sides stop at their occupied positions, and Russian peacekeepers are deployed in the region. In addition, the Aghdam, Kelbajar, and Lachin regions were returned under the control of Azerbaijan.
