In March and until the beginning of April each year, the so-called March Madness takes place in the United States. It is the unofficial name of a playoff tournament for the National College Basketball Championship.

The teams with the best results in the competition in each part of the country play each other until one team emerges victorious. A total of 68 teams qualified for the finals in both the men’s and women’s categories, and considering the number of matches in a short time, the competition is described as madness.

In this frenzy, characters often appeared, which attracted attention across the United States. In this year’s women’s team competition, it was mainly the coach of the winning team who stood out. Louisiana State University became national champion in the women’s category for the first time under the guidance of the colorful Kim Mulkey.

However, Kim Mulkey has not only gained attention for her basketball coaching skills. At every game, she was dressed much more colorfully than the norm with basketball coaches. She seemed more fond of pink clothes and, for example, in an act of madness, had a large tuft of pink fur around her neck.

However, it’s probably safe to say that she kept her most colorful outfit until the finale itself. Next, she wore a tiger stripe suit.

Kim Mulkey is not without controversy, however. Prior to her current position in Louisiana, she coached the Baylor University women’s team at Texas State. One of the team’s players who played under him was Brittney Griner, who came to the world’s attention after being imprisoned in Russia for ten months. Mulkey was asked by reporters about Griner’s case while incarcerated, but declined to answer.

Mulkey was criticized for this. Griner made no secret of the fact that they had a bad deal. According to Griner, Mulkey disliked the fact that the first was gay and requested that she and other gay players not disclose their sexuality. Mulkey was said to be concerned that promising players would otherwise avoid Baylor.

Kim Mulkey, on the other hand, has generally let criticism of this nature fly past her ears. Angel Reese, one of her team’s best players in this year’s March Madness, gave the coach colorful praise in an interview with the podcast I am an athlete . Reese, who is dark-skinned, said Mulkey, who is white, supported her and other dark-skinned players on the team.

“She really needs to accept that we are who we are and I think she welcomes that.” She loves us as we are.”
