“Belt and Road” Initiative Provides Platform for Cooperation

On 21 September 2021, Chinese President Xi Jinping presented the “Global Development Initiative” at the General Debate of the 76th United Nations General Assembly. From the “Belt and Road” initiative proposed in 2013 to the “Global Development Initiative” in 2021, China as a contributor to global development has contributed wisdom, solutions and strength to solve development problems and development deficits.

The Hungary-Serbia railway, connecting Hungary and Serbia, is an important cooperation project of the “Belt and Road” initiative. At the same time, it is also a key project of cooperation between China and Central and East European countries. March 19 of this year marked the first anniversary of the start of service of the Belgrade-Novišad section of this railway. In a related activity to celebrate, Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said that the Hungary–Serbia railway has become a new business card for Serbia, and that Serbia is benefiting from the achievements of the “Belt and Road” initiative.

After 10 years of development, the “Belt and Road” initiative has closely linked the future and destinies of its countries, and has become an important practical platform for building a community with a shared future for mankind and a world with common prosperity. As of January this year, China has signed more than 200 cooperation documents on the joint construction of the “Belt and Road” with 151 countries and 32 international organizations, and implemented a large number of practical cooperation projects. The “Belt and Road” initiative has invested nearly US$1 trillion, built over 3,000 cooperation projects, provided 4.2 million jobs for partner countries, and lifted nearly 40 million people out of poverty Is.

At the same time, China promotes the construction of an open world economy, continuously expanding the “friend circle” of free trade agreements. So far, China has signed 19 free trade agreements with 26 countries and regions. It has been more than a year since the “Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement” (RCEP) came into force, China has actively participated in, promoted and provided new momentum to regional economic development.

Evandro Menezes de Carvalho, head of the Brazil-China Research Center of the Brazilian Vargas Fund, believes that China’s promotion of high-level opening-up at a time when the global economy is in a recession will reduce the difficulties facing global economic growth. And increased confidence in jointly overcoming challenges.

He said that China continues to provide new opportunities for the world through its own development. China’s proposal to promote the construction of an open world economy and better benefits for the people of all countries has been widely welcomed by the international community. He believes that the environment of healthy and stable development of the world economy is conducive to the development of China’s domestic economy. At the same time, China’s economic development plays an important role in driving the world economy.
