Brexit: Boris Johnson provokes tariffs

– Published on:

Premier Johnson does not want to extend the Brexit transition phase and is thus making domestic political calculations about the economic reason. The EU should prepare for tariffs.

The coronavirus not only paralyzes the economy and society but also negotiations on Britain’s future relationship with the EU. At the first round of talks in early March, more than a hundred representatives from both sides met in Brussels – unimaginable during the pandemic.

The diplomats are now conferring via video link; a new round started on Monday. But the exchange in front of the screen brings less than the real encounter and the round table debate. The virus, therefore, makes it even more difficult to complete the negotiations on time.
