In India, the citizenship law passed by Parliament and under the aegis of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the subject of challenges. For more than two months, opponents have been demonstrating peacefully against this discriminatory law against Muslims in India and its neighboring countries, giving rise to violent inter-community clashes.
