Berlin: German climate activists tried to block traffic on Monday morning by demonstrating on the streets of the capital Berlin.

Members of the climate research organization ‘Last Generation’ have blocked roads across the country several times in the past year in an effort to pressure the government to take tougher action against climate change. On several occasions, they froze on the roads, causing a lot of trouble to the people.

Climate activists said Monday they would also block traffic as they marched slowly through the city. Around 20 roads in the city were blocked in the morning, German news agency DPA reported. According to Berlin police, 500 officers will be deployed on the streets of the city to clear the protesters.
