Ahmedabad (Ahmedabad). In the 44th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Delhi Capitals (Delhi Capitals- DC) registered their third win by defeating Gujarat Titans (GT) by 5 runs. Batting first at the Narendra Modi Stadium, DC scored 130/8 with the help of Aman Khan’s half-century (51). In reply, GT could only manage 125/6 despite Hardik Pandya’s innings (59*).
The decision to bat first after winning the toss proved wrong for DC and the team lost 5 wickets till the score of 23. In difficult times, Aman Khan and Akshar Patel made a half-century partnership and took the team to a respectable score. In reply, GT had lost their 4 wickets at the score of 32. Captain Hardik tried to handle GT’s innings by scoring a half-century but could not win.
With GT needing 30 off the last 9 balls to win, Rahul Tewatia came back in the match by hitting Enrique Norkhia for 3 consecutive sixes.
GT needed 12 runs in the last over to win. Ishant Sharma did the last over of the match and took Tewatia’s wicket in the fourth ball. Tewatia scored 20 runs in 7 balls. Ishant gives DC the win.
Aman came out to bat when DC lost their fifth wicket at 23 after the end of 5 overs. He partnered with Akshar for the troubled DC. After this, along with Ripple Patel, he took the team’s score beyond 100. He scored the first half-century of his IPL career. He scored 51 runs in 44 balls with the help of 3 fours and as many sixes.
Shami bowled 4 overs, taking 4 wickets for 11 runs. He has bowled at an economy rate of just 2.80. This has turned out to be the best performance of his IPL career. Shami dismissed Salt on the very first ball of the match without opening the account. After this he showed the way to the pavilion to Priyam Garg, Riley Russo and Manish Pandey. He now has 116 wickets in 102 matches.
Shami has bowled the second best powerplay in the history of IPL. He spent 7 runs in 3 overs during the powerplay and took 4 wickets. Ishant Sharma holds the record for the best bowling figures in Powerplay. He took 5 wickets in 3 overs for 12 runs. Shami has taken 17 wickets in 9 matches at an average of 14.52 and an economy rate of 7.05. He is currently the highest wicket-taker along with Tushar Deshpande (17). He currently holds the Purple Cap.
Mohit got 2 successes in his 4 overs today giving 33 runs at an economy rate of 8.20. During this, he has completed his 100 wickets in the league. Mohit has become the 23rd bowler to score a century of wickets in IPL. He has now taken 100 wickets in 92 matches at an average of 25.95 and an economy rate of 8.36. Meanwhile, his best performance has been taking 4 wickets for 14 runs.
