The European Union is “pushing” Chinese leader Xi Jinping to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy , according to the Financial Times.
Quoting an EU official, the publication writes: “The EU is pushing Xi to negotiate with…Zelenskyyy, as well as Russian President Vladimir Putin.”
A source told the newspaper that the European Union insists that Beijing not only cooperate with Moscow, but also with Kiev.
On Friday, an adviser to Zelenskyyy’s office chief, Mikhail Podolyak, said a phone conversation between Zelenskyyy and Xi Jinping may not take place. The reason why Podolyak called some difficulties in the organization. Previously, reports in Ukrainian and Western media said that the Chinese president promised to call the Ukrainian president after the meeting with Putin.
