Russians can now take a direct flight from Moscow to Tbilisi, allowing them to continue flying to Europe.
On May 20, the Georgian airline Georgian Airways began direct flights from Moscow selling tickets to various cities in Europe. For example, you can buy a Moscow-Tbilisi-Paris flight ticket with an hour transfer in Tbilisi for $820 starting May 26.
However, experts are not flattering about the new opportunity for Russians. It’s all about cost, says BFM.ru .
“The cost is sometimes amazing. I looked at June: it is very rare when there are round-trip tickets in the region of 50 thousand, most of them are over 60 thousand, this is already higher than the cost of a flight to Dubai, ”says Dmitry Arutyunov, general director of the Art Tour tour operator.
Tour operator Pegas Touristik has launched a program of transit flights to Crete with a transfer in Antalya. Flights will be available twice a week – on Tuesdays and Fridays. A big plus of the program is that now you can find a flight from Moscow to Heraklion with one transfer, which was previously available only as part of tour packages.
New loopholes for Russians to enter Europe are unlikely to provoke a tourism boom. Europe has become an exotic place where it is almost impossible to get to.
“We have to carry cash – Russian cards, of course, do not work there, not all of our citizens have accounts abroad. Therefore, in this sense, Europe does not develop, additional loopholes do not appear. In my opinion, on the contrary, they are becoming less and less, ”says Roman Bobylev, an expert of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation for the protection of the rights of tourists.
