Kolkata. Thanks to the half-century of all-rounder Vijay Shankar (51 not out) and the excellent innings of Shubman Gill (49), David Miller (32 not out), Gujarat Titans defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ) (Kolkata Knight Riders – KKR)) by seven wickets. Batting first in this match, KKR scored 179 runs for 7 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. In response, Gujarat won the match by scoring 180 runs for 3 wickets in 17.5 overs.

Chasing the target of 180 runs, the Gujarat team got off to a brisk start through Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill. Both added 41 runs in 4 overs. In the fifth over, Andre Russell broke the partnership by dismissing Saha. Saha scored 10 runs. Captain Hardik Pandya became the victim of Harshit Rana by scoring 26 runs on a total score of 91 in the 11th over. In the very next over, Sunil Narine dismissed Gill and gave third blow to Gujarat. Gill scored 49 runs. After this, David Miller and Vijay Shankar did not allow any more damage and shared an unbeaten 87-run partnership for the fourth wicket to give Gujarat a 7-wicket win. Shankar remained unbeaten on 51 off 24 balls with 2 fours and 5 sixes and Miller remained unbeaten on 32 off 18 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes.

Earlier in this match, Gujarat Titans won the toss and invited KKR to bat first. Rahmanullah Gurbaj and N Jagadishan got KKR off to a good start. In the third over, on a total score of 23, Mohammed Shami lbw Jagdishan and gave Gujarat the first success. After this, Shami dismissed Shardul Thakur (00) and gave another blow to KKR.

After this Venkatesh Iyer and captain Nitish Rana also could not do anything special and went on to score 11 and 4 runs respectively.

However, amidst the falling wickets, Rahmanullah Gurbaz continued to bat from one side and played a brilliant inning of 81 runs, during which he faced 39 balls and hit 5 fours and 7 sixes. After his dismissal, Andre Russell (34 off 19 balls) and Rinku Singh (19) played useful innings to take KKR to 179 for 7 in 20 overs.

For Gujarat, Mohammed Shami took 3 wickets, Noor Ahmed and Joshua Little took 2-2 wickets.
