If you are one of those who was also a tiny bit disappointed with the “Game of Thrones” finals, we might have a little consolation for you: As “The Hollywood Reporter ” reports, TV station HBO is already working on three more prequels the fantasy series. They are supposed to tell different stories of the novel series “The Song of Ice and Fire” by the author George RR Martin.

According to the report, the authors are working on three projects with the titles “9 Voyages”, “Princess Nymeria” and “Flea Bottom”. That sounds like music to the ears of all “Game of Thrones” fans who are eagerly awaiting literary replenishment from the series – George RR Martin is currently working on the sixth volume in the series entitled “The Winds of Winter”, although the HBO series with eight seasons already came to an end in 2019. The announced series project “House of the Dragon”, which tells the family history of the Targaryens, from which the future dragon mother Daenerys comes, has also been postponed several times. The shooting should start in April.

That is what the new “Game of Thrones” series should be about

Not much is known about the new series titles. The plot of the series under the working title “9 Voyages”, which can be translated into German as “9 journeys”, tells the prehistory of the master of the tides and head of the House of Velaryon, Lord Corlys, better known as the sea serpent. According to “Hollywood Reporter”, the series is being developed by screenwriter Bruno Heller, who also wrote the series hits “The Mentalist” and “Rom”.

The second series will revolve around the warrior queen Princess Nymeria, the very well-known ancestor after whom Arya Stark named her dire wolf and also named the sand snake Nymeria Sand in the original “Game of Thrones” series. Nymeria originally comes from the Martell family and is considered the founder of the united kingdom of Dorne, which from then on was under the rule of her family.

The third project takes place in the infamous slum of Königsmund, in the English original “King’s Landing”, in Flohloch, in the original “Flea Bottom” – that very labyrinth of narrow streets in the capital of the seven royal lands. This is exactly where characters like the onion knight Davos Seaworth and Gendry Baratheon , the illegitimate son of the late King Robert Baratheon, were born.

Is there more to come from the Game of Thrones universe?

It is not yet known who will write the script for the other two series and when we can expect the new titles. It is quite possible that more “Game of Thrones ” prequels are waiting for us. After all, the series is one of the most successful productions in recent years. In the eighth season, the average number of viewers was around twelve million.

The fans of the Westeros epic shouldn’t be too happy either. Shortly after the end of “Game of Thrones”, the broadcaster HBO initially announced a prequel series entitled “The Long Night”, later called “Bloodmoon” in German “Blood Moon”. In the spin-off, the prehistory of the epic should be examined, such as the true origin of the White Walkers. With Jane Goldman, a producer had already been chosen who had already written the script for the pilot episode. A cast had also been partially found: Naomi Watts and Jamie Campbell Bower, among others, were supposed to take on roles.

The series idea was rejected again, instead, the spin-off “House of the Dragon ” was implemented, which is supposed to play 300 years before the original series. Ten episodes are planned, with Matt Smith and Eve Best taking over the leading roles as Daemon Targaryan and Princess Rhaenys Velaryon. A broadcast is planned for 2022.
