Kolkata Knight Riders beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 21 runs

Bangalore (Bengaluru). In the 36th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 21 runs on Wednesday. This is KKR’s second consecutive win against RCB this season. Earlier, in the last match played at Eden Gardens, KKR defeated RCB by a huge margin of 81 runs. This is RCB’s fourth defeat this season.

Batting first after losing the toss, KKR scored 200 runs losing 5 wickets in 20 overs. Jason Roy scored the highest 56 runs from the team. With a target of 201 runs, the RCB team could score only 179 runs losing 8 wickets in 20 overs and lost the match. Virat Kohli scored the highest 54 runs. Varun Chakravarthy took 3 wickets for KKR. He was adjudged ‘Player of the Match’.

RCB batted aggressively against KKR and tried to score fast runs in the beginning. For the first wicket, there was a 31-run partnership in 14 balls between captain Kohli and Faf du Plessis (17). However, the team faltered as soon as the pair broke up. Shahbaz Ahmed (2), Glenn Maxwell (5) were dismissed early. Kohli and Mahipal Lamror (34) shared a 55-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

Kohli played a spectacular innings for RCB, staying in the field for a long time and holding one end. He scored 54 runs in 37 balls while batting at a strike rate of 145.95. He also scored 6 fours. This was the 49th half-century of his IPL career and 5th of this season, which he completed in 33 balls. Please tell that Kohli is also the batsman who scored the most runs (6,957) in this league.

Kohli made many big records during this innings. He became the first player to score 5,000 runs as captain in IPL. Mahendra Singh Dhoni (4,617) is second, Rohit Sharma (3,835) third and Gautam Gambhir (3,518) fourth in the list. Kohli also became the first player to score the most T20 runs at a single ground. He completed 3,000 runs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Bangladesh’s Mushfiqur Rahim (2,989 Mirpur) is at number two in this matter.

Explosive batsman Maxwell has been dismissed 3 times in the last 4 matches ahead of KKR spinner Varun. In Varun’s 13 balls, Maxwell has been able to score only 14 runs at a very simple average of 4.33.

KKR openers Jason and Narayan Jagadishan (27) got the team off to a good start, adding 83 runs in 56 balls for the first wicket. The dismissal of both the openers in a span of 5 runs affected the run rate in the middle. For the third wicket, captain Nitish Rana (48) and Venkatesh Iyer (31) took the lead and scored 80 runs in 44 balls. After this, in the end, Rinku Singh scored 18 * in 10 balls.

Explosive English batsman Jason scored a half-century while batting amazingly. This was his second consecutive half-century this season. In the last match, he scored 61 runs against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Jason scored 56 runs in 29 balls while batting at a strike rate of 193.10. In this innings, he also hit 4 fours and 5 sky sixes.

Mohammad Siraj has become the first bowler to bowl 100 dot balls in this season of IPL. Gujarat Titans (GT) bowler Mohammed Shami is second in this list after Siraj. Shami has bowled 88 dot balls so far. Jason (48) scored the 5th highest score for KKR while playing a flamboyant innings during the powerplay. Sunil Narine (54 vs RCB) has the highest score for KKR in Powerplay. KKR team (6 points) is at number 7 in the points table with 3 wins and 5 losses in 8 matches. RCB team (8 points) is at number 5 with 4 wins and 4 losses in 8 matches.
