Los Angeles court drops remaining charges against Harvey Weinstein – Reuters

The producer of hits like “Pulp Fiction” was sentenced to prison for raping and sexually assaulting former Russian model Evgenia Chernyshova at a Beverly Hills hotel in 2013, Belga reports. He is already serving a 23-year prison sentence from 2020 after being found guilty of similar acts in New York.

Los Angeles jurors, on the other hand, failed to reach the necessary unanimity to rule on charges against two other women, including Sibel Newsom, wife of California Governor Gavin Newsom. Therefore, the court had to decide on a possible new trial for these specific charges. The Los Angeles district attorney’s office said it wanted to drop them, which was confirmed by a judge on Tuesday.

Since 2017, nearly 90 women, including actresses Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow and Rosanna Arquette, have accused Harvey Weinstein of harassment, sexual assault or rape. But in many of these cases, some dating back to 1977, the statute of limitations has passed.
