Both the runways of Mumbai airport will be temporarily closed for 6 hours on 2nd May. According to the statement of the operating company, this Mumbai airport will be temporarily closed from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm and NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) has been issued in this regard.
Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, owned by the Adani Group, has two crossing runways – RWY 09/27 and 14/32. Both the runways will remain temporarily non-operational on May 2 for pre-monsoon maintenance and repair work.
The private airport operator said in a statement that scheduled temporary runway closure is an annual exercise and a contingency plan on the same will help maintain operational continuity and ensure safety of passengers. The exercise involved specialists from the engineering and airside teams inspecting the runway surface for wear and tear caused by day-to-day operations and helping to strengthen the airside strip.

All operations will resume normally from 5 pm on May 2. Mumbai International Airport is the second busiest single-runway airport in the world, handling around 900 flights every day.
