The talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Belarusian counterpart Aleksandr Lukashenko lasted more than five hours.

The meeting took place at the Sochi residence of Russian leader Bocharov Ruchei. Putin and Lukashenko discussed the further development of bilateral ties and partnership of states in the trade, economic, energy, cultural, and humanitarian spheres.

The Russian president pointed to an increase in trade between the two countries and also said that the commissioning of the first unit of the BelNPP would take place in June.

Earlier it was reported that during a meeting with Lukashenko, Putin called the events around Belarus “another round” and “a surge of emotions.” He noted that he and Lukashenka “have something to talk about without it”. Lukashenka noted that the main topic of the talks will be economic issues, since “on military-political and other issues, we have already agreed a long time ago”.

The press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov assured that at the meeting the heads of the two countries could touch upon the issue of the Belarusian state debt.
