The political thriller series The Diplomat hits Netflix on April 20. Keri Russell (The Americans) plays an American ambassador who goes to work in the UK instead of the previously planned Afghanistan.

In London, Kate Wyler will have to “deal with international crises, forge strategic alliances and get used to the increased attention. And all of this against the backdrop of an attempt to salvage the marriage to fellow diplomat Hal Wyler (Rufus Sewell),” reads the project’s official synopsis.
The series also stars David Jesy, Ali Ahn, Rory Kinnear, Ato Essandro and others. Deborah Kahn is the showrunner and executive producer. According to Netflix, The Diplomat is a TV show about one person’s ability to change the world and nurture long-term relationships, whether it’s marriage or political union.
