Egyptian society was shaken a few days ago by the incident of a mother appearing in a video clip in which she claims that one of her children had sex with her sister, which necessitated the intervention of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, which informed the public prosecutor about the incident.

The mother, owner of the channel, was accused of committing crimes of human trafficking by exploiting her children by showing them in music videos and posting them on her accounts with the intention of making a profit financial, exposing them to danger, defaming children and violating family principles and values.

Confronting Child Exploitation

Iman Shaheen, who holds a doctorate in home management and family and child institutions, confirms to “Sky News Arabia” that:

• Children do not realize that their parents sometimes exploit them • Obsession with the “trend” and obtaining money has led people to commit acts contrary to customs and traditions, and parents have need more than others to know how to manage social relationships. media.

• The efforts of governmental, media, religious and educational institutions must be combined to contain such behavior.

• Society contributes to the dissemination of these attitudes by giving them prominence, following them and publishing them.

• Scenes of betrayal, murder and betrayal in dramas encourage these behaviors • Strengthening children’s internal control is important for the child to act on their own and reject what is incompatible with their values ​​and morals.

For her part, Asma Murad, specialist in sociology and family counseling, said that the exploitation of children’s appearance on social media should not go unnoticed, explaining that:

• When the child is at the center of the work presented, children’s audiences are more affected.

• This phenomenon threatens the psychosocial stability of children and affects their mental formation.

• The child is unprepared for the spotlight and fame, leading to age-inappropriate decisions and artificiality in behavior and relationships with others.

• A child who comes across as a star or celebrity is exposed to psychological pressures that cause anxiety, fear, tension, nervousness and insecurity.

• Children’s exposure to famous music videos hinders their studies and prevents them from excelling.

• The media charter prohibits the exploitation of children.

• The Media Regulatory Council has the right to stop any work in which children participate without a license and to limit the exploitation of their children by parents, or their exposure to humiliation or the trade in their innocence.

As for the legal adviser and appeal lawyer, Dina Al-Moqaddam, she pointed out that the exploitation of children in this way on social networks is a legal crime, and revealed to “Sky News Arabia” that in the cases of the type of mother whose children have been defamed, there are several offences: trafficking in human beings infringing the rights of the child, which is subject to the law on children, • misuse of social networks, • exploitation of children in sexual matters.

The appeal lawyer added that anyone over the age of 16 is not considered a child and is not subject to child protection law as they are entitled to obtain a card national and that the criminal law applies to it.

Regarding the penalties for exploiting children in this way in Egyptian law, Dina explained that:

• Article (291) of the Children’s Act states that “any violation of the child’s right to protection against trafficking, sexual, commercial or economic exploitation, or its use in research and experiments science is prohibited.The child has the right to educate him and enable him to face these risks, without prejudice to any more severe penalty provided by another law, he will be punished with temporary hard labor for a period of at least 5 years and a fine of at least 50,000 pounds and not exceeding 200,000 pounds.

• Egyptian law punishes anyone who commits the crime of human trafficking with temporary imprisonment and a fine of at least 50,000 pounds and not exceeding 200,000 pounds, or a fine equal to the value of the benefit he received, whichever is greater, and imprisonment for life and a fine of not less than 100,000 pounds and not more than 500 pounds. 1,000 pounds, if the author comes from one of the ascendants or descendants of the victim, and if the victim is a child, an incapacitated person or a disabled person.

• Imprisonment for a period of at least 24 hours and not more than 3 years, and a fine of at least 500 pounds and not more than 20,000 pounds for anyone who deliberately disturbs others or abuses social media.
