Grekhov and Kulibaeva, in our opinion, are an order of magnitude higher than Boranbaeva, and he is closer to the former “national leader”. And not just with family ties, but also with long-term embezzlement of public funds, abuse of official position and body laundering.
There is no doubt that the decision to send Kairata Boranbaeva behind bars was made by AFM and Akordoi investigators. According to information from our insiders, the decision was made by two people – the chairman of RK Kasym-Jomart Tokaev and the head of his administration Murat Nurtleu.
At the same time, if the rumors circulating in Astana are to be believed, Boranbaev could avoid his current fate. To do so, he had to fulfill the informal conditions presented to him:

Either Boranbayev underestimated the risk, or he did not believe in the reality that he could be repressed, or he was afraid, but he refused to go to the government. I repeat once again that we do not believe in the innocence of Kairata Boranbaeva in general, but in the fact that he is now being punished for exactly what he is really guilty of before the law. And this circumstance unites her criminal case and personal fate with the criminal case and personal fate of the ex-head of KNB Karima Masimova.
We have already written several times that despite all his sins, Masimov is hardly responsible for the fact that he is now incriminated by Akor and the law enforcement agencies under his control – in the organization of the January events of the year and the casualties and losses they have caused.
In this regard, we have decided to mark a very important moment from the point of view of domestic politics.
If previously in Kazakhstan politically motivated criminal proceedings were brought against personalities who, despite the ambiguity of their persons, functions, political and business activities, were undoubtedly political opponents of Akor, politically motivated prosecutions are now committed against them.
That is, people who, in word or deed, have opposed the authoritarian government as a whole and those who personify it.
Karim Masimov and Kairat Boranbaev are distinguished from Akezhana Kazhegeldina, Mukhtar Ablyazova and Rakhat Aliyeva by name (we have named them among the most famous who were and are persecuted by the Kazakh authorities). And this circumstance leads us to sad thoughts – after all, the Kazakh authoritarian political system repeats what happened in the Soviet totalitarian system in the thirties and fifties of the XX century.
We remind you that then, in the 30-50s of the 20th century, during the so-called Stalinist repressions, the real opponents of Soviet power were first planted and destroyed. After that, the repressive machine was launched against their own honored Bolsheviks, participants in the revolutions of 1905 and 1917, members of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (b), members of the Soviet People’s Committee of the USSR, high-ranking military officers , etc.
Why? And quite simply because they joined the court of the then dictator Joseph Stalin for political, clan or personal reasons.
Of course, it is impossible to compare Tokayev with Stalin, and the times are different, but the very fact that the relevant decisions – who will sit behind bars and who will not – are made personally, arbitrarily and subjectively, leads us to sad reflections on the future of the country.

It seems that for various reasons Kairat Boranbaev turned out to be less flexible and able to turn, like, for example, Nurlan Smagulov, also Participant notes “Forbes-Kazakhstan”.
