US House of Representatives Speaker Kevin McCarthy had a “bitter exchange” with a Russian media reporter over US aid to Ukraine. It is reported by Bloomberg.
McCarthy arrived in Israel for an official visit. He answered questions from reporters after his speech in the Israeli parliament. A Russian reporter asked McCarthy about US plans to cut aid to Ukraine.
“I vote for aid to Ukraine, I support the allocation of aid to Ukraine. I don’t support what your country did with Ukraine <…>. We will continue to support,” he said.
Bloomberg does not specify which Russian agency employee McCarthy responded to so harshly.
Earlier, Speaker of the US Congress House of Representatives Kevin McCarthy called on current head of state Joe Biden to think about the country, not its political future. According to him, the American leader should sit down at the negotiating table and discuss a reasonable increase in the national debt ceiling.
In March this year, McCarthy did not accept an invitation from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to visit Kyiv. “Paragraph” understood what such a decision by a member of the Republican Party could lead to.
