Rio Tinto mining giant has apologized for destroying the 46,000-year-old cave of indigenous Western Australia.

The caves in question were called the Juukan Gorge caves, located in Pilbara province of Western Australia, which were destroyed a week ago when Rio Tinto, as reported by BBC , in consultation with the authorities, worked to expand the iron ore business.

Prehistoric monuments from the indigenous people of Australia have been found in the caves, including a belt made of human hair that is believed to be 4000 years old.

The head of the iron mine in question, Chris Salisbury, said the company apologized for the grief the company had caused.

Australian Indigenous Affairs Minister Ken Wyatt said it was incomprehensible that the explosion had been allowed but added that it was merely a mistake. In this case, the legislation would actually be the culprit.
