Left-handed batsman Karunaratne completed 1,000 ODI runs in his 40th match. He has become the 35th Sri Lankan player to touch this figure. Meanwhile, he has left behind his own countryman Brendan Kuruppu in terms of runs.
Right-handed batsman Samarawickrama scored 82 runs in 86 balls while batting at a strike rate of 95.35. He also scored 4 fours in this innings. This is the third half-century of his ODI career. Along with this, it has become the best score of his ODI career so far.
Leg break bowler Wanindu Hasaranga has continued his amazing form. He took his first wicket of the day, lbw the opposition captain Andrew Balbirnie (12).
