Russian security forces monitored Wall Street Journal Moscow bureau reporter Evan Gershkovich, who was arrested in Russia. This is stated in the article of the American edition.

According to journalists, several people followed the correspondent while performing one of the tasks. Some of the escorts filmed Gershkovich’s movements. Also in the WSJ article, it is said that the journalist spoke about the possible tapping of his phone.

The first information about the detention of Evan Gershkovich appeared on March 30. He was accused of having collected data on a Russian defense company, constituting a state secret. A criminal case was opened against Gershkovich under article 276 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Espionage”). The Lefortovo court in Moscow sent the American under arrest until May 29.
