Six prefectures in southwestern Japan, which means more than 1.6 million people, are urgently evacuated due to Typhoon Haishen, reports The Eastern Herald.

As of 8.30 on Monday, September 7, residents of Fukuoka, Saga, Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Oita, and Kagoshima prefectures have been ordered to evacuate.

The Japanese are warned of heavy rains, strong winds, and high waves from the typhoon.

Meteorologists report that early Monday morning, Haishen was at sea 40 kilometers south-west of the city of Tsushima (Nagasaki Prefecture). The wind force in the center is 40 m / s, with gusts up to 60 m/s.


Now the force of the typhoon is regarded as “extremely powerful”. At least 24 people were injured on the island of Kyushu.

Canceled 579 domestic flights connecting the islands of Kyushu and Shikoku with the rest of the country. Without electricity, 464 thousand households in the Kyushu region and 47 900 in Yamaguchi prefecture remain.
