Worms parents do not have to pay for daycare meals in April either

– Published on:

WORMS – Parents who take care of their child at home as part of the corona-related daycare center closure and whose child, therefore, does not take advantage of the warm lunch in the daycare center, will apply for a refund of the meal fee from March 16 to March 31. For the month of April, the food allowance is completely suspended.

Institutions waive parental contribution

The parents of schoolchildren and under-two-year-olds who cannot use emergency care should also be relieved by the institutions’ waiver of the parental contribution for the month of April. This is normally collected on the basis of calculations by the youth welfare office, both from the municipal and the independent organizations. “The waiver of the parents’ contribution means that the city incurs additional costs of around EUR 35,000, but given the circumstances and difficulties for the parents, this seems to us to be an appropriate and proportionate measure,” said Head of Department Waldemar Herder.

Personnel costs are also supported – regardless of whether the staff is present in daycare centers. According to the city, this regulation should now also be applied analogously to the youth welfare section to be borne by the city of Worms and thus the ongoing subsidy for personnel costs of the institutions. And childcare workers and parents who make use of this service should also be supported and relieved. Therefore, the subsidies and material expenses to child daycare workers are initially granted for the period from March 17 to April 17, when the child daycare worker decides to stop working without an order from the health department because they or close relatives belong to the risk groups or because of them from Corona has to take care of her own children. But even if she has to take care of seriously ill relatives herself, the benefits will continue. This also applies if the parents do not bring their child to the daycare center as agreed due to the corona crisis or if childcare is not possible due to an officially ordered entry ban at the daycare center.

In order to ensure equal treatment of parents, the parents’ contributions are also waived for this period. In addition, the parents’ contributions do not apply for the entire period in which the health department orders a quarantine for a self-employed childcare worker or issues a prohibition on activities.

Waldemar Herder emphasizes: “The nationwide daycare and school closings are a completely new challenge for everyone and we as a city have hardly any room for maneuver in this area. It is, therefore, all the more important to take every opportunity to make the situation a little easier for people and to react flexibly to changes in the future. “
