Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Jadot urges young people to go to the municipal elections

EELV MEP Yannick Jadot called on Thursday in Marseille, the young people to go to vote in March in the municipal elections, a vote usually shunned by these voters.

“We want young people to take over their city. They cannot let others decide for them,” said Jadot during a meeting with the media.

In municipal elections, participation, which approaches 80% among 50-70-year-olds, is less than 40% among young age groups.

“It is very important in cities with such vital energy that young people do not let others decide for them,” he insisted.

Behind the Swedish activist Greta Thunberg, several thousand young people around the world participated in 2019 in marches for the climate. An electorate that environmentalists hope to capture for the municipal.

In Marseille, the second-largest city in France, the abstention rate regularly reaches records. In the last municipal elections, it had reached almost 43% in the second round and 46% in the 1st round.

In the last European elections, the Europe Ecologie Les Verts party came in 3rd position in Marseille, behind La Republique en Marche (LREM) and the Rassemblement national (RN) largely in the lead.
