Halle / Westphalia – Tennis star Roger Federer gave his promise for the edition in 2021 immediately after the cancellation of this year’s Noventa Open in Halle / Westphalia.
“I am already looking forward to returning to Halle next year,” said the 38-year-old Swiss, who has a lifelong contract with the traditional event in East Westphalia. Federer has won the grass tournament ten times.
The Noventa Open, like the classic in Wimbledon, had been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Only from June 14 to 20, 2021 will there be top tennis in the OWL Arena again.
The failure is a great challenge for the organizers since the tournament had only recently been financially repositioned after the long-term namesake Gerry Weber had withdrawn. After all, the current title sponsor stated that his three-year engagement will only take effect in 2021 and then run until 2023.
