A Turkish town miraculously survived the very epicenter of the earthquake

The Turkish city of Erzin in Hatay province miraculously survived, being at the very epicenter of a powerful earthquake, local media reported.

It became the only settlement in the province without serious damage or loss. It should be noted that there was not a single building collapse and no one was killed. According to Mayor Erzin Okkesh Elmasoglu, this was achieved through the rejection of illegal construction.

“I had clear ideas about it – no illegal construction,” he stressed.

Thanks to this approach, there were no catastrophic consequences in Erzin, and the conscience of the mayor remained clear to the inhabitants. Elmasogu also advised Turks to “change their mentality” regarding the construction sector.
