Poland and Ukraine on Thursday called for international sanctions against Russian nuclear power, saying they fear Russia could harm Europe’s energy security and economy if attacks on energy facilities Ukrainians continued.Recall that last week the EU adopted the tenth package of sanctions against Russia, but did not include its nuclear energy due to opposition from some EU member states.”If we want to develop nuclear energy (…), we must suspend Russia’s membership of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA),” said the Polish Minister for Climate and Energy. Environment, Anna Moskva, at a conference on energy in Zagreb, the Croatian capital.”We must stop all nuclear cooperation with Russia (…) and I believe that Europe will be able to do so,” said Anna Moscow. “The next sanctions package (against Russian nuclear energy) is our future challenge, which we must accept, however difficult it may be.”The Polish minister said Russia’s occupation of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, which is being bombed, is “a very big danger for our economy, for our society, for our security.Recall that since October last year, Russia has been attacking power lines and substations of Ukrainian nuclear power plants.“They are destroying everything, they are destroying the seven pillars of nuclear security,” Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko described the behavior of the Russian side in a speech the day before.Ukraine managed to restore electricity supply and is now cooperating with US partners to restore the power grid, taking into account all possible military risks posed by Russia, Galushchenko said.Galushchenko noted that Ukraine was seeking to decentralize power generation in Ukraine to make it harder for Russian troops to attack power plants.
