Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Moscow has decided to reduce the period of the next extension of the grain agreement to 60 days

Moscow has decided to reduce the period of the next extension to 60 days, ie until May 18, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

The ministry clarified that this position had been officially communicated to the Turkish and Ukrainian sides, as well as to the UN. There were no formal objections. Thus, the agreement continues to operate for the next two months. Moreover, without progress in the implementation of the Russian part of the agreement, Russia’s participation in it will be suspended.

“A further decision to expand the initiative will depend on progress in implementing the following conditions within the framework of the implementation of the Russia-UN memorandum: reconnecting Rosselkhozbank to SWIFT, resuming supplies of agricultural equipment, spare parts and services, lifting restrictions on insurance and reinsurance, as well as lifting the ban on access to ports, restoring the operation of the Togliatti-Odessa ammonia pipeline, unblocking foreign assets and accounts of Russian companies related to the production and transportation of food and fertilizers,” the Foreign Ministry said.

Earlier, Putin said that if the grain deal was not extended, the Russian Federation would provide free grain to Africa.
