The head of the IAEA did not recognize the radiological danger of uranium shells

IAEA Chief Grossi: Uranium projectiles pose no radiological danger to people

The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, did not recognize the radiological danger of uranium shells, which the Ukrainian side should soon receive from the United Kingdom.

According to the Director General of the IAEA, depleted uranium munitions do not present a radiological hazard. “But in any case, this question (delivery of shells) does not directly concern the work we do here,” he avoided answering. Grossi said he had no authority to support or condemn such an initiative.

The issue of the use of munitions using depleted uranium and the concomitant effect on human health has been studied by the IAEA for quite a long time, the details of the head of the international agency shared.
