Kathmandu: A Sherpa guide in Nepal conquered Mount Everest for the 26th time on Sunday. With this, he has equaled the record of another Nepalese guide for climbing the world’s highest peak. According to the expedition’s organizer Imagine Nepal Treks, Pasang Dawa Sherpa reached the summit with the Hungarian climber on Sunday morning.
The first group of climbers of the season reached the mountain this week. Sherpa guides tied ropes and paved the way for hundreds of climbers who would try to scale the summit over the next few days. Since his first successful ascent to the peak in 1998, Dawa has made the trip almost every year. Veteran mountain guide Kami Rita set the record for most summits of Mount Everest last year after her 26th successful ascent to the summit. Rita is expected to attempt the summit again later this month.
