Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Helicopter crashes, killing both pilots due to ‘power pole’

“Today, at around 9 a.m., a national air force MD-530 helicopter, which was on a flight from Mazar-i-Sharif airport to Samangan, collided with a power pole,” the Department of Defense wrote on Twitter.

In September, a Black Hawk helicopter crashed during a Taliban exercise in Kabul, killing its two pilots and one crew member.

During its chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2012, the US military left behind billions of dollars worth of aviation equipment, weapons and machinery after rendering them inoperable.

The Taliban managed to repair some planes, including helicopters.

On August 31, the Taliban held a grand parade including military equipment to celebrate the first anniversary of the withdrawal of the last American soldiers from the country.
