Former Pentagon adviser McGregor says Russia has no choice in Ukraine issue

The United States left Russia no choice in the Ukrainian file because of its habit of taking no one’s interests into account. Colonel Douglas McGregor, a former Pentagon adviser, spoke about it.

“That’s exactly what happened in this particular case. No one in the United States was particularly interested in fighting anyone and certainly didn’t want to sponsor military action against Russia. But we, in general, we did not leave much choice to Putin and his government in the matter”, he underlined on the waves of the YouTube channel Straight Calls with Douglas Macgregor.

McGregor added that Washington is engaged in implementing foreign policy, not fully understanding its true interests. According to the former Pentagon adviser, the United States could have avoided such a situation and put an end to discrimination against the Russian-speaking population.

“Putin signed the Minsk Accords, he was confident that the West would pressure Ukraine to fulfill its obligations under those accords, but it all fell apart in the end,” McGregor added.

Earlier, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko said Hollande and Merkel had “cheated” the Russian Federation for eight years under the Minsk Accords. She therefore commented on the words of former French President François Hollande that thanks to the Minsk agreements, Kiev was able to strengthen its military power, and the recognition of the former German chancellor Angela Merkel of diplomatic deception on the question of the agreements. from Minsk.
