Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Scholz announced his desire to call Putin

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz intends to have telephone conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Scholz mentioned his desire to call Putin during a visit to Cologne.

In a conversation with journalists, Scholz recalled that he had already spoken with Putin about the situation in Ukraine and stressed that the conversation took place quite a long time ago – in December 2022, and it was necessary to talk again.

“I intend to talk to Putin again at the right time,” Scholz said, as quoted by TASS.

Kantser called the journalists’ question about the change of power in Moscow “speculative” and said that the main thing now is to achieve peace in relations between Russia and Ukraine.

“I don’t even raise such speculative questions. In the end, there must be an agreement between the authorities in Moscow and Kiev,” Scholz stressed.

Earlier, Scholz had said he was an opponent of a “cold peace” in Ukraine and considered it unacceptable to legalize the Russian-Ukrainian border along the existing front line, as it would mean recognizing Moscow’s territorial acquisitions.
