U.S. migration officials said that they found a tunnel on the border with Mexico that allows passage between the two countries and that it was “the most technologically advanced tunnel in U.S. history .”

U.S. Border and Customs Protection officials said they discovered an unfinished tunnel securing the border with Mexico as part of an ongoing investigation in the state of Arizona.

It is stated that it is “the most technologically advanced tunnel in the history of the USA”, that it is about a meter wide and 1.2 meters high, it includes ventilation, electricity, and a railway system. Authorities said they were continuing an investigation to determine who built the tunnel and for what purpose.

Late last year, Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard said after a meeting at the White House that the number of immigrants crossing from Mexico to the United States, especially those from Central America, had dropped significantly, adding that he expected their numbers to decline even more.

He met with U.S. Vice President Mike Pence and briefly with President Donald Trump to analyze progress in efforts to reduce the number of Central American migrants.

Pence praised Mexico’s efforts, saying U.S. officials would work with Mexico to further implement the Protocol to Protect Migrants and speed up the process of reviewing asylum applications, the White House said.
