President Recep Tayyip Erdogan denied the news that his country is sending Syrian fighters to the Karabakh region , in support of the Azerbaijani army in its struggle against the Armenian occupation.

This came in a speech by the Turkish president on Wednesday while attending the meeting of the parliamentary bloc of the Justice and Development Party at the parliament headquarters in the capital, Ankara.

Erdogan made clear that Turkey need not send Syrian fighters to the occupied Karabakh region, and that Ankara is able to provide all kinds of support to Azerbaijan.

The Turkish President affirmed that the Karabakh region is an Azerbaijani land and that the struggle of the Azerbaijani army to regain its occupied lands from Armenia is a legitimate right and a heroic struggle .

Last week, the Azerbaijani ambassador to Ankara, Hazar Ibrahim, stated that his country had monitored contacts in the Karabakh region of PKK terrorists who were fighting alongside Armenia with their leaders in northern Iraq.

He added, in a speech he gave during a cultural event organized by the Turkish “Gazi” University in Ankara, that the contacts they had monitored in “Karabakh” were between the PKK elements and their leaders in northern Iraq.

The Azerbaijani ambassador emphasized that Armenia seeks assistance from the PKK organization to confront the Azerbaijani army in Karabakh.

He explained that his country’s forces found the bodies of the “PKK” militia among the dead Armenian forces.

He continued, “We have spotted contacts in Karabakh between the PKK militia, which is fighting alongside Armenia, and its leaders in northern Iraq.”

Armenian fighters from Lebanon , Syria, and some European countries also go to Armenia to fight against the Azerbaijani army, which is trying to cleanse its lands from the Armenian occupation.

And since last September 27, clashes have continued on the front line between the two countries, after the Armenian army fired massively at residential sites in Azerbaijani villages, which caused civilian casualties and caused great damage to civilian infrastructure, according to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense .
