State Department denies any involvement in Russian protests

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry demanded that Washington stop supporting persons participating in uncoordinated actions.

The United States has nothing to do with the recent protests in Russia. The corresponding statement on Monday, February 1, was made by the new head of the US State Department, Antony Blinken.

“The Russian government is making a big mistake if it thinks it’s about us. This is not true. It’s about them. It’s about the government, it’s about the disappointment of the Russian people from corruption, autocracy, and I think they need to look inside, not outside, “said the head of the American diplomatic service.

Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs demanded that the United States stop interfering in internal Russian affairs. The statement came in response to a comment by Blinken, who said the US “condemns the Russian authorities’ continued use of harsh tactics against peaceful protesters and journalists for the second week in a row,” and called on the Kremlin to “release those detained for exercising their rights.”

The Russian Foreign Ministry said the statements aimed at encouraging the protests are part of the US strategy to contain Russia. “Gross US interference in the internal affairs of Russia is the same proven fact, as is the” promotion “of fakes and calls for unauthorized actions by Internet platforms controlled by Washington,” – said in the appeal of the foreign ministry.
