The head of European diplomacy called Russia a “dangerous neighbor”

“We must contain and oppose Russia,” Josep Borrell said at a meeting of the NATO Council

Russia is a “dangerous” neighbor to the European Union. This opinion was expressed by the EU High Commissioner for Foreign Relations and Security Policy Josep Borrell, reports RT.

“We must discuss channels of communication with Russia. Russia is a neighbor, a dangerous neighbor, but we must share with them some issues on which we have common interests, such as a nuclear deal with Iran or climate change, “Borrell said at a NATO Council meeting at the level of foreign ministers of states. members of the military bloc.

“But at the same time, we must contain and oppose Russia,” the official added.

Prior to this, the head of European diplomacy said that Russia had embarked on a course of confrontation with the European Union.

In response, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the EU had destroyed the “infrastructure” of relations with Russia. He added that Moscow is ready to restore them if Brussels wants it. However, so far, as Lavrov put it, “no change on the western front.”

The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that the anti-Russian sanctions adopted by the European Union are used to interfere in internal affairs. The ministry stressed that this calls into question any relationship with the EU.
